It is the region of the Slavic Christianity and learnig. The south part of the region confines with Hungary. The metropoli of the region is Nitra, where during the first centuries the first feudal state of the Great Moravia was created here with the union of the Nitra and Moravia principalites. Today the town of Nitra is a modern town with more than 87.000 inhabitants. The region has the following provinces: Nitra, Komarno, Levice, Nove Zamky, Sala, Topolcany a Zlate Moravce.

The tourist attractions of the region:
the historical and cultural monuments of the town and its provinces; the thermal pools of Sturovo and Komarno; Arboretum Mlynany; the reserve of the bisons in Topolcianky; the Yard of Europe in Komarno; the archeological discoveries in the region, among which also a world rarity: the residences in the rocks in Brhlovce.
