Slovakia's Cibulková wins WTA Finals
Dominika Cibulková's records a life achievement after defeating German Angelique Kerber. Dominika Cibulková is the winner of the WTA Finals in Singapore. She beat her opponent, number one in the world ranking, Angelique Kerber, in two sets 6:3, 6:4. The match lasted 77 minutes.
The victory is Cibulková's greatest achievement so far in her career. Cibulková managed to beat the German player for the first time after failing to do so in their previous five mutual matches. The two players' match history is now tied, 5:5. For Cibulková, this is her eighth WTA title, her fourth this year, and so far the most precious of her career, the Sme daily. Cibulková is the second Slovak after Janette Husarova to win the WTA Finals. Husarova won in Los Angeles in 2002. The Slovak tennis star will now move from eighth to fifth place in the overall rankings, the highest ranking of her career.Cibulková started the match against Kerber like a hurricane, the Sme daily wrote. She was quick, played aggressively and did not make any unforced mistakes.
