Kosice Castle Also called Hradova, it is situated 1 km from Kosice. The most ancient document in which appears the castle goes back to 1307, when the constructions of the fortifications were begun. In the 1442 castle it was already destroyed for order of the captain of the town. Today some archaeological excavations are located there.

Stara Lubovna Castle In the town of Stara Lubovna above the Poprad river valley is the majestic fortress of the castle of Stara Lubovna. The origin of the castle dates back to the beginning of the 14th century. Its history has been marked by members of the most important noble families in Hungary (Omodey, Drugeth) and Poland (Kmita, Lubomirski and Zamoyski).

More than 350 years the castle was given as a deposit and lived there and Polish administrators. The castle was visited by the Polish kings as Władysław II. Jagiello, Jan Albrecht, Jan Karzimierz, Jan Sobieski, and also by the Hungarian kings Mary and Sigismund of Luxembourg.

In the years 1655 - 1661 at the castle were kept Polish coronation Jewels. In 1768 the castle was held as a prisoner on the famous globetrotter Maurice Benyovszky (Moric Benovsky). In 1772, the period of deposit is over thanks to this order of the Empress Maria Theresa, during the first division of Poland. In the 19th century the castle Raisz, be on the family and the turn of the 19th and 20th century belonged to the Zamoyski family.

Alle parti più preziose del castello apartiene la torre principale del castello, la quale è stata nel 2003 dopo il restauro aperta al publico. Nel palazzo in stile barocco è custodito l'arredamento dell'epoca e vi si trovano anche delle espozisioni dell'arte e dei mestieri della famiglia Zamoyski.

Stara Lubovna Castle - Open-Air Museum

Below the castle is located the open-air museum which depicts the life of the country in the past. The most valuable part of the museum is the Greek-Catholic wooden church consecrated to St. Michael, built in 1833 and taken from the village Matysova. In the museum beyond the church there are many dwelling houses, schools, the forester's house and other buildings.

Kezmarok Castle The castle whitewashed to lime was built around 1462 and more late surrounded by the wall of the renaissance fortifications decorated with delicate battlements. Between 1657 and 1658 were constructed the chapel.

The Kezmarok castle belonged in the period of 1679 to the Thököly family, which made to reconstruct the castle like summer residence. In the 1702 castle it was bought by the Kezmarok town.

Kezmarok CastleToday the castle houses the section of the Museum of Kezmarok dedicated to archaeology, the local history and the historical furnishings.

Saris Castle - photo: http://www.velkysaris.sk The Saris castle was built in the half of the 13th century. Today they are remained only the ruins after the fortuitous explosion in the second part of the 17th century. After then it is not more restored. The tower high 28 m and the palace with the room of the knights dominated the castle.

The Saris castle, to its times, was one of the largest and most important of Slovak castles and was the center of the Saris district. The hill with the castle was declared a Nature Reserve. The well marked path that leaves from the country Velky Saris carries the visitors up to the castle.

Markusovce Manor house In the Markusovce village is situated the Renessaince Manor house of 1643, built by Frantisek Mariassy and reconstructed between the 1773 and 1775 in rococo style. Inside it is an exposition of historic furniture.

The manour house is encircled by the beautiful French park with a summer house called Dardanelles constructed between 1775 and 1778. Today inside the summer house it is an exposure of the musical instruments and the concerts of classic music are carried out.
